Mental Health Advocate
Like 1 in 4 people in the UK each year, mental illness has affected Alex since childhood. He has suffered with depression, anxiety and the eating disorder bulimia. Now he shares his experiences openly as an advocate through speaking, writing and social media to raise awareness and better understanding about eating disorders in men, encouraging others that opening up isn’t a sign of weakness and showing that mental health challenges don’t have to stop us achieving extraordinary things.
I’m proud to be a charity ambassador which gives an amazing opportunity to reach and hopefully inspire more people, both in and away from the outdoor world.
YHA England & Wales (Youth Hostel Association) are a charity with a mission to reach more than one million young people every year, transforming young lives through travel, adventure and discovery by creating opportunities to explore, learn, share and grow. Because where you go changes who you become.
