New Book – Another Peak

Published in July 2019, ‘Another Peak’ explores mental health challenges through outdoor adventure. It shares an insight into depression and eating disorders whilst rediscovering purpose following two Everest attempts and an expedition to climb Cho Oyu, before embarking on Climb The UK in 2017. Another Peak goes deeper into the peaks and troughs of mental health than ever before, giving hope and inspiration to help others find their own Everest.

So if we can't get to the mountains together we'll So if we can't get to the mountains together we'll try and bring them to you. Sadly @mind_o_mountains have had to postpone some of our upcoming walking events, which is frustrating when so many are struggling.
.
In the meantime we've launched our virtual Base Camp sessions every Sunday with inspiring adventurers/athletes sharing their stories and a Q&A, followed by skills from our Mountain Leader team. Keeping people connected and inspired ready for when we can get back to the hills.
.
This Sunday 5-6pm I'm speaking to the legend @run.robla.run, the first person to run the route that Forrest Gump did in the film, and almost five times across America! Followed by a Beginners Navigation skills session from the brilliant @emmahollandmt.

Miss speaking to an actual room full of people. On Miss speaking to an actual room full of people. One of my goals for a while has been to speak at a bigger TEDx event with over 1,000 people. I was never happy with my first in 2018 which is now immortified online for the world to see, so I want to put that one to bed. Until then, it looks like virtual speaking is going to be here a while longer and I'm grateful technology gives us the platform to inspire. Excited for a busy week ahead speaking on mental resilience at Rolls Royce Submarines, FedEx, and the opening keynote at HSE360 summit next week. Should be in Munich but now from home in Kendal. Less travel time means more time for running I guess!

We know exercise helps our mental health. If only We know exercise helps our mental health. If only it was as simple as lacing up the shoes and heading out the door. When we're stuck in a mental trough sometimes it’s frankly the last thing we want to do. And then we can feel even worse.

Really enjoyed sharing some tips in a blog for @inov_8 new #StepUp #PlayYourPart campaign. Link in my bio or check out their profile to get stuck in the campaign too!

WE DID IT! Less than 2 weeks later, the team of 22 WE DID IT! Less than 2 weeks later, the team of 224 have virtually ran/walked/cycled over 11,000 miles around the UK coastline!
.
It's been amazing to see how a common goal has inspired you to get out on the dark nights, bad weather, dragging the kids along and hopefully getting the mental health benefits of being outdoors. But we can't stop there...
.
Can we make it around the world by the 1st of March? 24,901 miles (40,075km). I think we can... Fundraising is entirely optional but if everyone donated 10p per mile, we could raise £2,490 for @mind_o_mountains to restore mental health through the outdoors once lockdown is over.
.
It's not too late to join us and there's prizes each week thanks to @ellisbrigham. LINK IN BIO. Now I just need to plan the route 😂
