”Are you the chap that’s climbing Everest?”

The title of the blog is the question I was asked by a lady whom I'd cycled past on Wednesday evening, on a routine 60 mile ride from my local village

New Book – Another Peak

Published in July 2019, ‘Another Peak’ explores mental health challenges through outdoor adventure. It shares an insight into depression and eating disorders whilst rediscovering purpose following two Everest attempts and an expedition to climb Cho Oyu, before embarking on Climb The UK in 2017. Another Peak goes deeper into the peaks and troughs of mental health than ever before, giving hope and inspiration to help others find their own Everest.

Great being back in the North Lakes. Also pleased Great being back in the North Lakes. Also pleased to announce I'm joining @ellisbrigham as an ambassador again in 2021, alongside The Westgrove Group, providing the leading outdoor kit for all my training and challenges. Only need my knee to play ball so I can start putting the proper work in, and maybe some sponsorship from Nurofen, then we're sorted.

Anyone else feeling anxious about life after lockd Anyone else feeling anxious about life after lockdown? Most of us probably can't wait, but others will have got comfortable with the routine of working from home and less obligations. Personally I've loved the simplicity and solitude, but miss the freedom to travel and visiting family.
.
The first thing is acceptance. It's going to change whether we like it or not. But what we resist, persists, and stops us finding the new opportunities.
.
Trust the process. None of us could have imagined what would happen this time last year. We've been there before and we'll get through it again.
.
Finally, write a list of all the positive things and changes you made during lockdown that you can take forwards. Gradual changes make it feel much less overwhelming.
.
Any other tips you'd add?

It's been a tough six months but amazing to be bac It's been a tough six months but amazing to be back @mind_o_mountains at Chatsworth today, doing what we do best! Nature did the job as always. We're in Rivington next weekend and lots more walks and residentials coming up (link in bio) with bursaries available for those in need of support. All thanks to our amazing fundraisers for making this possible! After rescheduling twice with 2 lockdowns we've waited a while for this moment today and so grateful to our team @hanmarsland @emmahollandmt @lindamoran.ml @em.brace_mental_fitness and Austin (and all our Mountain Leaders) for making these happen. We've got a busy year ahead, bring it on!
